Our specialist orthodontists

Our team is headed up by two specialist orthodontists, Dr Howard Holmes and Dr Arti Dyett. Find out more about them in their bios below.

Dr Howard Holmes

Dr Howard Holmes

Dr Howard Holmes completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and was dux of his 1993 graduating year. After four years in general dental practice, Dr Holmes went on to complete a specialist Masters degree (MDSc) in Orthodontics in 2000. Along his academic journey, Dr Holmes earned numerous academic and clinical awards including the prestigious Elsdon Storey First Research Prize for the Orthodontic Research Excellence.

Dr Holmes is a registered Orthodontic Specialist with the Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA) and is an active member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Dental Study Group of Western Australia. In 2013 Dr Holmes was awarded honorary fellowships of the International College of Dentists (FICD) and the Academy of Dentistry International (FADI) in recognition of his meritorious service and dedication to the dental profession.

Dr Holmes has held numerous professional appointments but most notably was the WA Federal Councillor for the Australian Society of Orthodontists from 2015-2022 and Federal President of the Australian Society of Orthodontists from 2020-2022.

Outside of work, Dr Holmes is a keen guitarist, cyclist and surfer. His golfing skills are questionable, but he still tries anyway. He is married to Valerie and they have one daughter.

Dr Arti Dyett

Dr Arti Dyett

Dr Arti Dyett was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and has lived in Perth since 2006.

Arti completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours at the University of London in 2006, and moved to Perth to begin her career as a dentist. While working full-time as a dentist in public and private practice, Arti completed a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with Honours at the University of Western Australia (UWA) and in 2010 was accepted into UWA’s full-time three year Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics.

During her Doctoral program, Arti conducted research evaluating the impact of orthodontic tooth movement on surrounding tissues, and also on the use of 3-Dimensional scanning methods to assess facial asymmetry. Arti’s research has been published in the American journal, Progress in Orthodontics, and has also been presented to fellow clinicians.

Arti is trained to use a wide range of functional orthodontic appliances, both removable and fixed. She is skilled in implants to assist tooth movement, Invisalign, and surgical orthodontic cases.

Arti is an active member of the orthodontic and dental specialist communities in Western Australia, and is the past Treasurer of the Dental Specialists Society of Western Australia. She is also a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontics, the Australian Dental Association, World Federation of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists and is a Registered Orthodontic Specialist with the Dental Board of Australia and has achieved Australasian Orthodontic Board (AOB) Certification.

Arti is married to Peter and they have one young son. Outside of work you will find Arti at the gym, rock climbing, cooking, or spending time with family and friends.
